ALWI performs site characterization work in accordance with the MDE "MEAT" protocols for petroleum contaminated sites and other regulatory standards. Generally this work involves (1) characterizing conditions at sites with petroleum contamination of groundwater; (2) designing and managing customized excavation, drilling and testing programs; (3) using hydrogeological data to characterize the groundwater threat posed by gasoline constituents and other drinking water contaminant species; (4) mapping the likely source and movement direction of groundwater contaminants; (5) preparing work plans and reports for regulatory agency review and approval; and (6) negotiating with agency representatives to achieve efficient and pragmatic pathways toward site closure.
