Soil Infiltration, Permeability & Infiltrometer Tests
 ALWI’s wastewater division specializes in fulfilling technical permit application requirements for large groundwater discharge projects in Maryland and neighboring states. For example, in Maryland wastewater disposal systems over 5,000 gpd in design capacity are subject to MDE discharge permitting requirements. COMAR 26.04.02 and MDE’s “Guidelines for Large Onsite Sewage Disposal Systems” govern the technical content of the submittals supporting an application for groundwater discharge permits. To comply with these Guidelines, usually three interdependent physical properties of the soils require assessment: infiltration capacity, groundwater table mounding potential and nutrient loading potential.
