Hydrogeologic Risk Assessment; Commercial Development Site

Designed, secured approval and executed extensive forensic environmental testing program to support a new-groundwater withdrawal proximal to a long-standing petroleum release and remediation site. Though remediation had concluded, agency officials were concerned that new groundwater withdrawals in the area could mobilize and spread otherwise latent contaminants. A robust protocol for groundwater testing, hydrogeologic and water quality monitoring and predictive contaminant fate and transport modeling was designed, approved and executed. Testing was successful, the risk was judged de minimus to the satisfaction of all parties, and requisite approvals for the client’s development plans were secured.
