Source Water Assessments and Wellhead Protection
Town of Berlin, Maryland
ALWI designed, coordinated and executed a field evaluation to expand the aerial footprint of the Town of Berlin's existing spray irrigation facility.
Our professional services included securing MDE approval for a detailed investigative work plan, coordinating backhoe pit excavations and associated subsurface exploration, performing infiltrometer testing in accordance with MDE requirements and applicable ASTM standards, calculating the growth and decay of predicted groundwater mounding effects, reviewing existing water quality data and submitting hydrogeologic reports for agency review and Groundwater Discharge Permit approval.
The permit was issued and facility expansion was approved in accordance with our recommendations.
We also completed a Source Water Assessment of the Town's three production wells, including detailed recommendations for implementation of a dynamic wellhead protection program.
